Prof. Elena Makrevska Disoska, Faculty of Economics, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, and Prof. Katerina Shapkova Kocevska, Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia, participated in the 2nd International Scientific Conference “Empowering Europe’s Future through Education”, held on 22–23 January 2026 in Zagreb, at the Representation of the European Commission in Croatia. The conference was organised in the framework of the ERASMUS+ Project, Jean Monnet – Teachers Training Solidary Europe for a Safe Society 2.0 (EUsolis 2.0).
They presented the research paper “The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and EU Accession Countries: Compliance, Costs, and Readiness”, co-authored with Prof. Viktor Stojkoski, which examines the regulatory, economic, and institutional implications of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism for EU accession countries, with particular emphasis on compliance costs and readiness.
In addition, Prof. Elena Makrevska Disoska and Prof. Katerina Shapkova Kocevska served as moderators of Session I: EU Governance, Law and External Relations, contributing to high-level academic discussions on EU governance, law, and external relations.
The conference provided an excellent platform for networking, the exchange of ideas, and the development of new academic collaborations. The authors sincerely thank the organizers for the outstanding organization and the inspiring academic environment.
