On October 28, 2025, the Faculty of Economics – Skopje, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, successfully organised a one-day EU training. The event brought together 31 participants, including university professors, professionals, and students from the Faculty of Economics–Skopje, the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus”, and the Secondary School of the City of Skopje — “Orce Nikolov” Gymnasium. The aim was to promote dialogue and share knowledge on the green transformation of the transport sector and the challenges of achieving sustainable mobility in Eastern and Southeastern Europe.
The workshop opened with welcoming remarks by Prof. Elena Makrevska Disoska, Jean Monnet Chair Coordinator, who emphasised the importance of aligning regional transport policies with the EU’s sustainability and decarbonization goals. The first session, led by Dr. Jakub Doński-Lesiuk from the University of Łódź, addressed current trends in sustainable mobility, EU policy frameworks, and case studies from Central and Eastern Europe. The second session, presented by Mr. Petar Vasilev from NAVICO SHIPPING, focused on regional initiatives for cleaner transport, investment challenges, and innovative approaches in transport and logistics.
The event concluded with an engaging discussion and Q&A session, where participants exchanged views on how the Western Balkan countries can accelerate their green transition in transport. Certificates of participation were awarded at the closing session.
This training contributed to enhancing the academic and policy understanding of EU green and transport policies and strengthening collaboration between academia and practitioners.
